Shannon Voted off DWTS

The first elimination was an upset. And some people? Are stillhttp://media-files.gather.com/images/d799/d296/d746/d224/d96/f3/full.jpg in shock.
Evidently America just couldn't get enough of Buzz Aldrin because much to the surprise of many, he was safe. His walk on the moon is so legendary, that America just can't get enough - whether he can dance or not just doesn't matter.
Speaking of not being able to dance, Kate Gosselin was also safe tonight. Last night's performance from her was more than terrible (and Lord knows I hate that bitch!), but she and Tony will see another week.
So who was voted off? Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas.
Doherty defended herself by saying "I'm not a dancer; I'm an actress."
Do you think American got it wrong?

RICKY MARTIN COMES OUT!!!!

Ricky Martin's coming clean and coming out of the closet.

Ricky Martin is the proud father of twins.

After years of scrutiny about his sexuality, the Latino pop star declared on his official Web site today that he is "a fortunate homosexual man." Martin explained that he decided to make the announcement after musing about his memoirs and his year-and-a-half-old twin sons, whom he fathered through a surrogate mother in 2008.
Martin's publicist, John Reilly, confirmed that the statement is authentic.
Martin's declaration comes just weeks after Barbara Walters admitted she was wrong to question the singer aggressively about his sexuality during an interview 10 years ago.
"In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was," Walters told the Toronto Star earlier this month. "A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now I feel it was an inappropriate question."
Martin, known for hip-shaking Latin pop hits like 1999's "Livin' La Vida Loca," was widely speculated to be gay during the height of his fame. In her 2000 interview, Walters told Martin, "You know, you could stop these rumors. You could say, as many artists have, 'Yes I am gay,' or you could say, 'No, I'm not,' or you could leave it, as you are, ambiguous. I don't want to put you on the spot, but it's in your power to do it."

Martin declined to give Walters a direct answer and avoided discussion about his sexuality until now. Below, read the full text of Martin's statement, which was posted on his Web site in English and Spanish.

A few months ago I decided to write my memoirs, a project I knew was going to bring me closer to an amazing turning point in my life. From the moment I wrote the first phrase I was sure the book was the tool that was going to help me free myself from things I was carrying within me for a long time. Things that were too heavy for me to keep inside. Writing this account of my life, I got very close to my truth. And thisis something worth celebrating.
For many years, there has been only one place where I am in touch with my emotions fearlessly and that's the stage. Being on stage fills my soul in many ways, almost completely. It's my vice. The music, the lights and the roar of the audience are elements that make me feel capable of anything. This rush of adrenaline is incredibly addictive. I don't ever want to stop feeling these emotions. But it is serenity that brings me to where I'm at right now. An amazing emotional place of comprehension, reflection and enlightenment. At this moment I'm feeling the same freedom I usually feel only on stage, without a doubt, I need to share.
Many people told me: "Ricky it's not important", "it's not worth it", "all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse", "many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature". Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.
If someone asked me today, "Ricky, what are you afraid of?" I would answer "the blood that runs through the streets of countries at war...child slavery, terrorism...the cynicism of some people in positions of power, the misinterpretation of faith." But fear of my truth? Not at all! On the contrary, It fills me with strength and courage. This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment.
These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed.
What will happen from now on? It doesn't matter. I can only focus on what's happening to me in this moment. The word "happiness" takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution.
I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.

Here comes LOLA!!

Madonna starts shooting the new film about Edward VIII this summer in London, and the Material Girl has found a role for daughter Lola!
"It's not a significant part but it will give her a good taste of life in the movie business," says an insider.
Apparently Lourdes has told Momma Madge she wants "some kind of career in the entertainment industry," and now that Lola's a little older, Madonna is willing to let her acting career begin. lets hope this apple falls far from her motheers acting tree!

NEW SOPHIE ELLES BEXTER!!!!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Bittersweet” Is A Hot And Spicy Dance Track

Sophie_Ellis_Bextor_-_By_ChanceSophie Ellis-Bextor is back after a three-year break, a time period she spent focused on motherhood instead of pop tunes. We don’t know how we ever managed to groove at a club without the “Murder on the Dancefloor” songstress crooning to the beat, so we’re thankful that the English pop star is planning to drop her fourth dance album this Autumn (which was delayed from its original Spring release date). Sophie whet our appetite for her forthcoming release by debuting the title track,”Bittersweet,” on U.K.’s Gaydar Radio. We’ve snatched it up for your listening pleasure, so jump below for a taste.
“Bittersweet” was written by electro group Freemasons, who are also featured on the track. The British duo previously penned hit tracks for Beyoncé, Kelly Roland, Kylie Minogue, and Sophie for “Heartbreak (Make Me a Dancer)”.
We’re not one-hundred percent certain if this soon-to-be-a-rave-fave is the main track or its Freemasons remix, but this is a perfect dance tune nonetheless.
Sophie recently told the Brisbane Times, “Pop is fickle. You are only as good as your latest song. I really don’t think the public cares if you are away for 18 months or two years, but that extra six months in the studio might make all the difference to your album.” Personally, we’re impressed so far, and we hope the rest of Ellis-Bextor’s album sounds as sweet.

Check out the new Lady GaGa video for telephone!!!

A little fun with Lady GaGa

"I live my life completely serving only my work and my fans. And that way, I have to think about not what is best for my vagina but what is best for my fans and for me artistically. In the book of GaGa, fame is in your heart, fame is there to comfort you, to bring you self-confidence and worth whenever you need it. I want my fans to love themselves. It’s almost like I want to hypnotize them so when they hear my music they love themselves instantly."

The History of THE ABBEY

David Cooley is the master at the art of work and play. Over the past 15+ years, his creation, The Abbey Food and Bar, has grown from a small, West Hollywood coffeehouse to one of the most popular hotspots in the country. Locals, tourists and celebrities alike all flock to The Abbey for its famous Martinis as well as its stunning, open-air ambiance and truly relaxed elegance. The Abbey's most recent 4,000 square-foot expansion (the fifth in 12 years), included the addition of a brand new bar and lounge, now dubbed the Effen Smooth Bar, bringing its total size to approximately 16,000 square feet.  Both AOL CityGuide and Zagat Survey rank The Abbey as THE hot spot in L.A. Such popularity and critical acclaim are a testament to Cooley's drive and entrepreneurial spirit.
Cooley, hailing from Ohio and armed with a degree in Hotel Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, packed up and moved out to Los Angeles in 1981. Despite a slew of job offers centered in the Midwest and on the East Coast that would have placed him in exciting industry positions, Cooley was determined to head west. "The move to LA was a disappointment to a lot of my professors and to my parents," admits Cooley, who waited tables and cleaned houses just to earn some money during his first months on the West Coast.
Pursuing a new career in finance, Cooley had a brief stint as a stockbroker before eventually becoming a vice president at Wells Fargo Bank.  Shortly thereafter in 1991, Cooley set out on his own, and invested in a small, discreet space in West Hollywood that he renovated into a coffeehouse. He named it The Abbey - which at that time was located on the west side of Roberson Blvd (now Bossa Nova Grill), across from its current location.
Fueled by the then-budding coffee craze, Cooley's 1,100-square-foot start-up coffeehouse instantly took off. Today, The Abbey is known by many as "the social hub of West Hollywood," where patrons enjoy relaxed weekend afternoons as well as star-studded gala events.
In May 2006, Cooley and The Abbey entered an entirely new and exciting phase in its partnership with the Los Angeles-based SBE, which has fast become one of the pivotal players in the Los Angeles nightlife and restaurant scene.    Armed with the expertise, infrastructure and corporate reach of SBE, The Abbey is beginning its biggest  expansion to date - reproducing the signature Abbey experience in selected cities nationwide.  While no specific locations have been finalized for national expansion, Cooley and SBE are exploring locations where The Abbey's open-air concept would work best, including Miami's South Beach, Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Cooley continues to play a vital role in the operation and expansion of The Abbey, as well as a significant participant in and contributor to the community that has been loyal to The Abbey. His Academy Awards party "The Envelope Please" is now sponsored by Esquire Magazine and has raised more than $150,000 a year for AIDS Project Los Angeles. He is also active in Toys for Tots, Aid for AIDS, South African Families and People with AIDS; as well as Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing, to which he donates his Hancock Park estate every year for fundraisers.

THE CONFUSION OF MY ILLUSION

THE CONFUSION OF MY ILLUSIONWritten & Performed by KELLY MANTLEDirected by Jon Imparato

Oklahoma native Kelly Mantle (the nephew of NY Yankee great Mickey Mantle!) is a veteran of numerous primetime TV shows, stage and films. He learned early on how to use the power of gender duality to knock the conservative townsfolk out of their comfort zone. Hilarious, lyrical and moving, Mantle's play-with-music seizes that power to confuse, illuminate and advance the ongoing drive for equality.
Sparkling with original songs and astutely chosen covers, and featuring tales that range from playing the Bible’s Eve as transgendered to a true-life encounter with George W. Bush, The Confusion of My Illusio serves as Mantle’s personal battle cry in the tradition of the gender-benders at Stonewall.

Stacey Q makes a comeback!!!!

Poor Sandra Bullock :(

It has been said that in the world of show business, marriage is hard to maintain. Lucky for you if you are a famous actor or actress who was able to maintain a long lasting relationship with your partner because in most cases, marriage will not be successful because of the fame, temptation, and money that this career can bring.
Sandra Bullock is no exception to this fact with her troubled marriage which might lead to a split with her husband Jesse James. With her starring role at “The Blindside” winning her the most coveted Best Actress Award in the recently concluded Oscars Awards 2010, the news about her marriage is currently one of the hottest gossip topics.
Accordingly, his husband Jesse James is cheating on her with a mistress named Michelle ‘Bombshell’ McGee. McGee claimed that she and Jesse James carried on an affair while he was married to Sandra Bullock. It was also said that Jesse James did this while Sandra Bullock is filming the movie “The Blindside”.
What’s the truth behind these rumors? Did Sandra Bullock and Jesse James split because of the rumored illicit affair of Jesse with this Michelle McGee? As of the latest updates, there’s no official confirmation yet from the couple.
Personally, I am saddened with this news. One happy family might again collapse because of infidelity issues. Well, it seems that this is the trend in show business just like in the case of Tiger Woods but I hope that Sandra Bullock’s marriage would be saved. She does not deserve to be treated that way.

LIGHTS

Check out this great interview with up and coming  star 'Lights" and check out her new music video on the link after the interview.
Oh hey, I'm LIGHTS--a fairly small-sized, Canadian girl who makes intergalactic-electro music. What do I mean by intergalactic? I'm glad you asked. I try to find sounds that seem like they could have been plucked from Saturn's rings or a meteor belt. Equal parts fantastical/epic/beautiful/emotional.
As a kid I moved around a lot. To find some form of consistency, I had to find a place that always stayed the same. Concocting music became that world to me and I escaped there any chance I got. It started with just me and the guitar. Then, I moved on to drums, piano, and then the keyboard. When I started realizing the limitless possibilities that synthetic instruments presented, I invested in a little 8-track mixer. I was thirteen. I began the process of transferring what was in my head into something solid.
After drifting around and dabbling in different musical genres throughout my teen years, I finally landed on the so-called "electro-pop" planet I live on now. I unleashed a little taster of my work in the early months of 2008 as an EP but the songs kept coming...I couldn't stop them. And the more I made, the easier it became to convey how I felt through simple lyrics juxtaposed with sounds harvested from the far reaches of my alternate universe.
Finally I sat back and listened to everything I had feverishly created over the past years, and I was happy. I realized I had discovered more about myself when I was just listening and creating music than from anything else. And for every minute of song that passed through my head, I was reminded of that realization, and it felt special. I called this first full collection of music, "The Listening." I hope that it makes you feel special too.

Most twenty-two year old pop stars have an army of professional image sculptors behind them: producers, songwriters, stylists, and abused assistants. But LIGHTS, who grew up all over the world, is used to traveling light. So she decided she'd simplify things by doing all those jobs herself. "It's easy to misconstrue a young girl singer as a total puppet. I am the opposite of that. This is what I do. I am LIGHTS."
Born in Timmins, Ontario, LIGHTS lived in the Philippines and Jamaica during her elementary school years. "My family is very get-up-and-go if we feel called to do something different," the singer explains. "It was a really important thing to learn about as a kid, that nothing is so important that you cant leave it behind." LIGHTS' mother home schooled the kids; but, one day a week the singer's father would take over. "We looked forward to that day because we got to recite poetry and learn music. Nothing was taken too seriously and we got to sing. That really instilled in me a passion for music."
In 1997 the family moved back to Canada and almost immediately, nine year-old LIGHTS got her hands on a guitar. By eleven she'd learned a handful of chords, which she used to write her first song. Then, at thirteen she turned her attention to production. "I had so many more ideas than just the vocals and the guitar. I wanted to put a glockenspiel and strings and a bass and drums in there!"
As a teenager Lights spent much of her time writing songs up in her attic bedroom, which she dubbed Starry Night studios after her favorite Van Gogh painting. By eighteen LIGHTS had moved out of her parents' house and was living in Toronto with only her pet tarantula Lance to keep her company. In this state of near-isolation LIGHTS finally found her signature sound- a merging of classic pop songwriting with deeply intimate yet universally appealing lyrics. She wrote "February Air," a poignant ode to the chill of winter love, which became the first of four LIGHTS songs used by Old Navy in the company's 2008 spring ad campaign.
Though her star was clearly on the rise, it was LIGHTS' online profile that really solidified her fan base. Between the singer's MySpace page (which to date has over eight million visits and fifteen million plays,) her personal web site iamlights.com and her passion for web-based fantasy games like World of Warcraft, the artist's online identity is as evolved as your nerdiest teenage boy's and this is something she's very proud of. "There's an entire world of people out there that play WoW and are talking about science fiction and they feel a little bit outcast, so if you can reach those people that's sweet! Even my look is inspired by video game characters – it's a cross between Laura Croft and Wonder Woman."
In April 2008 LIGHTS released her eponymous EP. It contained six songs including "February Air," which reached #3 on the MuchMusic countdown in Canada, as well as the epic "Drive My Soul," which was an even bigger hit; the song was added to radio without being serviced, climbed all the way to #1 on Much Music, and spent over three months in the Top 20 on Hot AC radio. On the strength of her EP alone, LIGHTS won the 2009 Juno (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy Award) for New Artist of the Year, joining the ranks of Feist and Nelly Furtado.
The singer's rapidly growing fan base was clamoring for live LIGHTS shows so she hit the road, playing countless sold out gigs in her home country, as well as numerous festival dates in the UK. In addition to touring extensively through the United States, this summer LIGHTS spent five weeks on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour and this fall will join Keane on their Canadian tour.
LIGHTS' full-length debut, The Listening, is out now. It includes a few songs already familiar to die-hard Lights fans, as well as plenty of new material including the first single, "Saviour," a propulsive pop ballad that represents the essence of Lights. "My songs are spawned from moments of sadness or intense emotion," the singer says. "'Saviour' is a big example of taking one of those really dark emotional situations and turning it into something positive. I just happened to get hit with a really dark sad night. The melody started coming together and the words started pouring out. I was crying when I wrote the first line of the chorus and it actually sounds kind of like crying. It's a really, really powerful song for me."
Using music to translate something painful into something transcendent is LIGHTS' primary purpose. It's her commitment to keeping pure the connection that music creates that guides her as she prepares to release her first major album. "I think about how some of the greatest artists over time kind of went crazy because they didn't have that ability to show people who they were," the singer muses. "They were living a double life and that's not healthy. Now you can be yourself and people will still love you for it. Who you see is exactly who I am. And I think if I maintain that and don't fake anything with my fans, I'll never go crazy."

Los Angeles Earthquake 2010

Ok kids I slept right through this one but here is some new we had on the earthquake early this morning.

An earthquake in Southern California early today woke residents from their slumber. The quake, with a 4.4 magnitude according to the US Geological Survey, may only have caused minor damage but at a time when severe earthquakes such as in Haiti and Chile, have been in the news, caused a major scare.
It struck just before 4 a.m. about one mile away from Pico Rivera. Jessica Sigala, a USGS geophysicist, said that an earthquake of that magnitude in an area where buildings are designed to bear minor quakes would only cause very minimal damage, with maybe the odd broken window, or books shaken off shelves.
One Arcadia poster wrote that the quake knocked him out of bed, whilst another person only felt a short sharp jolt adding that if they’d been not been awake they probably wouldn’t have noticed at all. The last major quake in California was in 1994 which killed 72 people and was a much stronger magnitude of 6.7.
A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said they had not received any immediate reports of damage. For more details on this go to ABC News. Were you woken by the quake or do you know anybody who was?
