Melissa Etheridge's former domestic partner Tammy Lynn Michaels is seeking full custody of their 3-year-old twins, TMZ reports.
According to the site, she has filed papers asking for full legal and physical custody of children Johnnie and Miller, as well as spousal support.

Her only mistake: TMZ notes that she filed a dissolution of marriage rather than a dissolution of domestic partnership. She and Etheridge, 49, did not qualify to marry during the time that they established their union, the site claims.

Michaels recently blogged that she was blindsided when Etheridge filed for dissolution of their domestic partnership July 2. In her papers, Etheridge stated that she wanted joint custody of the children (Michaels carried the twins to term after being impregnated by an anonymous sperm donor).
Etheridge and Michaels became domestic partners in August 2005. They announced their split in April.
